A GLANCE OF BENGKULU

Bengkulu is a Beautiful city in Indonesia, famous with the biggest flower 'Rafflesia Arnoldi'. Bengkulu lied in the west coast of Sumatera face to the Hindia Ocean at 101° 1' - 104° 46' western longitude and 2° 16' - 5° 13' southern latitude. Bengkulu is a small city around 144, 52 Km2 with inhabitants around 200.000 soul. It’s very nice to stay in here, because there are several beautiful view as tourism object such as Pantai Panjang (Long Beach), Danau Dendam tak sudah (Dendam tak sudah lake), Benteng Marlborough (Marlborough Fort), Pantai Tapak Paderi (Tapak Paderi Beach) etc. The Most of Bengkulu original inhabitants are as fisherman, because it’s ocean so rich in fish, shrimp, crab and the other sea products, so the seafood is very delicious to taste …!

Pantai Panjang (Long Beach)

It named as Pantai Panjang (Long Beach), because the beach length is about 3 – 4 km2. The view gives us spirit and complacence. We’re very nice to spend the time there during the holiday.

Tapak Paderi Beach

It’s very wonderful to see the sunset in Tapak Paderi in the afternoon. It’s one of our favorite places in Bengkulu. Most of youth spend the time there from afternoon to evening…!

Dendam Tak Sudah Lake

Dendam Tak Sudah Lake shows great scenery & a peace atmosphere to make us feel happy and calm.

CULTURE

At Muharam 1st – 10th (Arabian calendar) always present a culture festival named as ‘Festival Tabot’ in Bengkulu. This event celebrates as the culture party has a purpose to remind the death of Amir Hussain (in Karabala Field, Iraq) as the grand son of The Greatest Islam Prophet ‘Muhammad SAW’. This activity must be celebrated every year because Bengkulu society believes that this ‘Tabot’ celebration can prevent theme from any disasters. So it must be content with ritual and classical activities. Previously, this celebration only content by ritual ceremonies but since 1990, it improves with several attraction and the show of traditional cultural art contest such as; ikan-ikan, telong-telong, dol (traditional music instrument), traditional dance, barong landong etc. During ten days this culture celebration amuses all people and the tourists from other country. Now, The Government of Bengkulu Province establishes this culture party as the tourism festival.
